Types of glaucoma
Primary open-angle glaucoma
The most common form. Pressure rises slowly and painlessly, gradually damaging the optic nerve.
Angle-closure glaucoma
The drainage angle narrows or closes. Can present acutely with pain and vision loss, or chronically.
Normal-tension glaucoma
Optic nerve damage despite eye pressures in the typical range — requiring careful evaluation.
Secondary glaucoma
Caused by another condition such as pigment dispersion, pseudoexfoliation, trauma, or steroid use.

Laser treatment
Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT)

Laser Peripheral Iridotomy (LPI) & YAG
Used to open narrow angles, prevent angle closure, and treat post-cataract membranes.
Surgical options
Interventional glaucoma
When drops or laser aren't enough, modern surgery offers durable pressure control — often with smaller incisions and faster recovery than traditional approaches.
MIGS
Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery — micro-stents and bypass procedures, frequently combined with cataract surgery for an efficient, low-risk pressure-lowering effect.
Xen Gel Stent
